Taking over as Curriculum Lead, using Articulate Rise and Storyline for the Bud LMS.
- Responsibilities: Adapted content from Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), enriching it with engaging activities and regular content checks
- Target audience: Policy apprentices working for the civil service
- Tools Used: Articulate Rise, Storyline 360, Bud LMS, Azure Screencast-O-Matic, IMovie
- Year: 2021-2022
Background
Stepping into the role following the departure of a predecessor, I undertook the revamp of seven existing learning modules and created additional course content.
Communication
Initiated regular Teams meetings to bolster communication with two key SMEs, Guy and Jill, and the Talent Coach, Maymon. This collaborative approach addressed existing concerns, ensuring the course maintained its integrity and high quality.
To address these concerns, I initiated regular Teams meetings to foster better communication. While email remained our primary communication mode for SME feedback on the eLearning content, I established weekly Teams meetings with Maymon to tackle more intricate issues. This proactive approach ensured we addressed potential hurdles in real time, maintaining the quality and integrity of the course content.
Key issues and solutions
- Off-the-Job Hours: Collaborated with Maymon to create additional activities and reallocate excessive hours, achieving a balanced curriculum
- Pre-Workshop Learning: Redrafted Bud instructions to clarify prerequisites, promoting timely learner engagement
- Workshop Task Clarity: Revised workshop task instructions, ensuring a straightforward, user-friendly experience.
Results
Successfully garnered trust and collaboration amongst Talent Coaches and SMEs. Incorporated instant feedback mechanisms, such as Microsoft Forms, into the eLearning. This immediate feedback highlighted proofreading areas and garnered positive responses regarding content improvements.
Follow up
Continued as the curriculum lead, addressing issues such as restricted access to earlier course versions and updating module names to align with new guidelines.
